Cyprus Residential Permit

A Cyprus Residents Permit is given more easily to persons who are / have purchased Cyprus property, and are retiring in Cyprus. EU citizens who are granted a permanent or a temporary permit can register in their name as many properties as they want given that they will sign a confirmation to the government that they will stay for the following 5 years in Cyprus.  The granting of this permit is based upon the level of foreign income available to support oneself and family, and this includes pensions and income from investments.

Temporary permit requires:

  • Bank account in Cyprus
  • Sales agreement of a purchased property in Cyprus.  Temporary residence status can be good for up to four years.

Permanent Permit requires:

  • The temporary requirements, as well as;
  • A proven and secured annual income of not less than CYP 10.000 per couple.  More specifically, the applicant must establish evidence of a secured annual income of not less than £5.600 (CYP) per person plus £2.700 (CYP) for each dependant person.  After the entry of Cyprus into the EU, it is possible that for European Union Members, the law in respect of permits will change.  For further information, please contact the Ministry of Interior in Nicosia.
